MMAE Installs New 2009 - 2010 Co-Presidents
Debi Faubion Attorri and Lois Benjamin have been elected to serve as incoming co-presidents. They will be installed at the Annual Luncheon at Myers Park Country Club on May 19.
Both Debi and Lois have been active members of the Alliance, serving on the MMAE Board in various capacities. While they may be co-presidents, each brings a personal perspective and focus to the position.
According to Debi, "I got involved when I married a Charlotte physician. After working for years in television news, MMAE opened up a whole new area where I could make a difference." As co-presidents, they plan to continue the AED campaign but also focus on the issues of childhood obesity and family nutrition.

Focused on Increasing Membership
Lois Benjamin is a 30-year member and eager to increase MMAE's membership numbers.
"We run our organization from our membership dues, using the Endowment to support health projects in the community. New and rejoining members are important to the vitality of the Alliance," she explains.
"We welcome new faces and new ideas so don't be shy, come join us!"

Welcome to the Mecklenburg Medical Alliance and Endowment’s (MMAE) new home on the web.
If you found your way here on the world wide web, it’s likely that you’ve come to learn more about our organization. This is an exciting year for MMAE as we are celebrating our 75th Anniversary, but perhaps even more important is our 26 year old Endowment, the vehicle through which our nonprofit has been helping build a healthier community.
One of the things the Alliance does best is recognize health needs in the community and our current Lucky Hearts Campaign, partnered with MEDIC, is a perfect example of how we impact the community. This program that places AED’s in business facilities and public buildings and provides training to personnel will save lives.
If you take a minute to scan our Health Projects section, you will come to realize that this is not the first MMAE project to have a significant impact on the community. Our contributions to community health have affected the lives of everyone from hospital patients to teens, from the uninsured to the victims of crimes, from seniors to those with mental health issues.
When I speak about the Alliance or MMAE projects, it is not unusual to hear people react with, “I’m really not familiar with your organization.” This web site is an effort to rectify the situation.
For many years the Alliance has been content to let its “actions speak louder than words.” While I certainly agree with the principle, I also think its time to let everyone know we’re here in Charlotte and we’re building a healthier community!
