Join the Mecklenburg Medical Alliance & Endowment (MMAE) at our Annual Community Health Luncheon. This year, MMAE’s bringing Harvard professor and physician Dr. John Ratey, a world leader in the study of the effects of exercise on the brain.

His research has shown that exercise can improve cognitive function in both children and adults. “Even brisk walks can boost memory, alleviate stress, enhance intelligence and allay aggression,” say Ratey. Exercise stimulates our gray matter to produces what he call’s “Miracle-Gro for the brain. “I can’t understate how important regular exercise is in improving the function and performance of the brain,” he says. “It’s such wonderful medicine.

Among the areas improved by exercise, Dr. Ratey’s research found that exercise can have a significant impact on:

Cognitive function
Hormonal fluctuations
Stress
Anxiety

Mood
Aging
ADHD
