The Mecklenburg Medical Alliance and Endowment (MMAE) has partnered with Charlotte AHEC to bring Dr. Bruce Perry, author of Born for Love: Why Empathy is Essential and Endangered, for a comprehensive program on the vital role empathy plays in human relationships. We invite parents, medical and mental health professionals, educators to learn about how empathy develops and why it is essential for our development into healthy adults.

Dr. Perry is the Senior Fellow of the Child Trauma Academy, a not-for-profit organization based in Houston, and adjunct Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Science at Northwestern University School of Medicine.

As keynote speaker at the Community Health Luncheon, Dr. Perry will focus on how empathy, the ability to recognize and share the feelings of others, is a crucial human quality that underlies love, friendship, and parenting.
